Being a PR grad, I’m used to hearing “Any PR is good PR”, however I don’t think that this applies. This is a straight up disaster. What do you think?

Well here’s something you don’t hear every day… Shame on you Tim! I was always a fan of AILD — well — ever since I was about 12 or 13, when I introduced myself to the wonderful world of metal music. Now I’m horrified.

My mom always tried to tell me that this music was ‘dangerous’ and that these types of bands weren’t always chok-full of the best types of people (What mom hasn’t thought that though?). Of course I never listened, because after meeting many many bands, they always seemed to be the coolest of dudes. Guess she was right about this one in particular!

People will always shock you.

Personal Update

I was going through my Tumblr page at work today (during some down time), because I wanted to see what my last update was about & was curious to see how much my life has changed since then (lets be real - it changes hourly).  To my surprise, it’s been THREE MONTHS since I posted a life update! I don’t have any decent excuses as to why I’ve been absent from posting, but I suppose as most of you are finding out, sometimes life takes over.

Now as I said, I was looking at my blog at WORK, so yes, I have a new full-time job (YAY) !! I actually love it & feel it’s a place I was meant to be from the beginning - and what a relief that is. I started working here at re:think about one month ago & have been given so many amazing opportunities in such a short amount of time. For example, I wrote the blurb (or back-of-the-book-summary) for one of our book’s & it’s been printed and published. I was so amazing to hold my own writing in my hands - something that hundreds of people will be able to gaze their eyes upon (even if they don’t read it word-for-word). However, I’m not just a “writer”. I’m a “Project Coordinator”, which is AWESOME - and though it utilizes my PR skills, being a project coordinator is nothing like being a PR associate (which I’m relieved about, actually).

So what does this awesome new company do? Uhm.. more like, what do they NOT do! Re:think builds and enhances online presences for companies and personal use. We have a ton of different ways of achieving this. First and foremost, by web design & development. Next, SEO. Further? I’ll re-write all your content AND help you out with social media (yea, pretty awesome, I know). It helps as well, that everyone here has a strikingly upbeat and friendly personality. Music lovers and all. Easy to say, I feel like I slipped right in and felt like I was part of the team.

Moving on, apart from my wonderful new full-time opportunity, I’ve been coaching Drew University’s cheerleading team on Sundays. It’s still insane to me that I’m able to coach collegiate girls, being only 1 year out of college myself. However, I really feel like I’ve made an impact on the team & am totally grateful for the opportunity to do so.

Apart from that team, of course, leaves me with my all-star cheer program! We just had our first official parent’s meeting of the season this past Monday. I’m proud to announce that I now have two teams: my senior level 3s and now also, junior level 2! I’m so insanely excited about how much my program has expanded in just a year’s time & can’t wait to start working with my new girls. I’m feeling very confident about next season (2013/2014) & can’t wait to see what these ladies are capable of.
IN FACT, I’m so sure that this year is going to top last year, that we’ve decided on new uniforms! My co-director and I spoke with a GK rep yesterday and have completely customized a design that will make sure our girls will stand out above the rest (in all the best ways).

I’ve actually taken it upon myself to keep up with my girls this year & work out with them.. yepp.. that means I’ve been tumbling! Yesterday my boss had me doing whip passes. I thought for sure he was crazy (given my age and injuries), BUT — I DID IT! Round off -> whip -> handspring -> tuck! And ok, he helped with the tuck, but still — I’m 23, I’ve broken my back, torn nearly every ligament in my right knee, and haven’t been in “cheer shape” since early 2011.  I’m super proud :P.

Alright, before I bore you all to death and make this overly-excited post my next novel, I’m going to cut it off here — got a meeting in the other room anyways.More updates to come later!

Best always,
E

"They will tell you that you can choose. You can be the mountains they will say, strong and still and patient. They will tell you that you can be the sea, fluid and adaptable and capable of carrying such great weight. They will tell you, you must choose. Please tell them they are wrong. Tell them you are both."

My story isn’t over yet… and neither is yours. Stay strong.
